Created in fall 2023 for ENGL 207 (Intermediate Poetry Writing)

103B Mason St

is sap-covered gold Toyota camrys,

Britas spilt over ice trays

onto linoleum counters, unrelenting ants,

shallow sink basins, scrap-filled drain plugs

emptied into broken-open trash cans,

Halloween-candy-stealing raccoons named Frank,

thick wooden dowels wedged into sliding doors,

brown-eyed bartenders

talking too loud at 4 am and microwaving

another pack of pepperoni bagel bites,

chatty gray cats scratching at birds on tv,

frayed gaps between couch cushions, sagging

wooden closet racks, defective light switches,

antiquated shower faucets, hair-clogged shower drains,

naked bodies existing in

always-open bedroom curtains, double beds

occupied by single people, pjs covered

in dead leaves and hash ash, yellowing

litter boxes that smell like ass, near imperceptible

chills escaping through old-caulked glass, and

old-lady-named best friends with tender laughs
