Go the F*** to Sleep Illuminated Letterform

This project reimagines the banned children’s book Go the F** to Sleep* by Adam Mansbach—an irreverent, satirical take on bedtime struggles between parents and children. My goal was to translate the book’s playful frustration and dark humor into a single, illustrated letterform that captures its contrasting tones.

Drawing inspiration from children’s book illustration and illuminated manuscripts, I filled the letter “F” with children performing fantastical—even dangerous—activities, rather than going to sleep. The “F,” a playful nod to the book’s frequent expletives, was stylized to resemble a cloud. The result is a visual balance between innocence and exhaustion, humor and honesty—mirroring the book’s candid look at modern parenthood.
