Artist Statement: In the first few chapters of the Bible, God said that woman was made for and from man, and because she was responsible for the original sin—taking an apple from the forbidden Tree of Knowledge—she was to be punished by having desires contrary to her husband, who would rule over her. In doing so, God condemned her to a mere object without free will, an ideal upheld by men and woman alike since, reflected throughout art history in the constant portrayal of woman as naked and desirable.
